TET Eligibility: Open School Diploma Not Valid!
This change is expected to be officially announced within the next few days and could impact around 25,000 aspiring teachers.
Previously, the National Institute of Open School offered Diploma in Education (D.Ed) and Diploma in Elementary Education Certificate courses, which were considered equivalent to regular D.Ed programs. This allowed open school graduates to appear for TET exams and qualify for government teaching jobs.

However, a recent Supreme Court ruling clarified that open school D.Ed certificates are not equivalent to regular D.Ed qualifications. Consequently, the Education Department is enforcing this ruling and barring open school graduates from government teacher recruitment processes.
While open school graduates with these certificates can still work as teachers in private schools, they will be ineligible for government positions. The department is taking steps to ensure this during the verification process for TET and Teacher Eligibility List (TEL) applications.
