CTET 2021: Check Eligibility, Syllabus and New Changes in the Exam Pattern
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) handles the recruitment of teachers for Kendriya Vidyalaya Samithi (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samithi (NVS) though the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CET). This year, CBSE has announced that it will conduct a computer-based test (CBT) online. Candidates who qualify for this examination will be eligible for KVS and NVS recruitment. They can also work as teachers in private educational institutions teaching CBSE syllabus.
CTET 2021 qualifications:
CTET consists of two examination papers (Paper-1, Paper-2). They are assigned for different qualifications.
CTET Paper1 (intended for teachers of classes one to five): Candidates should have secured 50% marks in Intermediate or equivalent qualification. In addition, a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (DED) must be completed. Or complete a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education degree (B.El.Ed) with 50% marks in Inter. Or Intermediate as well as Diploma in Special Education.
CTET Paper 2 (Examination for Teachers of Classes Six to Eight): Candidates must have completed a two-year Elementary Education Diploma (D.El.Ed), along with a degree, or a B.Ed first class degree with 50 percent marks. Or Intermediate, equivalent qualification with completion of four years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed) with 50% marks. Or those who have completed four years of BA / B.Sc. Education with 50% marks are eligible.
Five per cent relaxation will be given in qualifying marks along with implementation of reservation as per government norms for SC / ST / OBC / Disabled in all categories. Those who want to teach students of two levels (1 to five, six to eight) can attend two papers (Paper1, Paper2).
CTET is Lifetime Valid
There is no maximum age limit for writing CTET. You can write the test as many times as you want. Teachers who are already in service may attend to test their skills and improve their score. Candidates who have written the CTET test in the past can also try again to increase the score. Achieving at least 60 percent marks will be considered eligible in the CTET. Once qualified in the seat, it is valid for life time.
CTET is an Online Test:
Until last year, the CTET was conducted as a paper and pen basis. CBSE has announced that it will be conducting the December 2021 session online. The CTET consists of two papers. Objective type Multiple Choice questions are asked. Each question is assigned a mark. Paper 1 consists of 150 questions for 150 marks. Also in Paper2 150 questions will be asked for 150 marks. No negative marks. The duration of the examination for each paper is two and a half hours.

- Language – 2–30 questions– 30 marks;
- Mathematics and Science – 60 questions – 60 marks; Or
- Social Studies – 60 questions – 60 marks;
- A total of 150 questions – 150 marks will be tested.
