Why Wheat appears gold in colour?
Sakshi Education
Nitrogen is the most important gas responsible for the strong and healthy grwoth of plants and animals. But as this gas is not available on Earth sufficiently, plants recycle this gas. Nitrogen is available in chlorophyl molecules which give green colour for plants.
When plants do not require nitrogen, they release those chlorophyl molecules. When wheat si fully grown and ready for reaping, it does not require nitrogen and release chlorophy molecules. The crop releases the chlorophyll through its seeds. Because of this process, not only wheat seeds but also the wheat plants loose their earlier green colour and turns into light gold colour. similarly, the paddy crop when the growth is complete turns into golden colour.
