Fee in Major Private Engineering Colleges Range from Rs. 1 to 1.6 Lakh!
The increased fees will be applicable from the current (2022-23) academic year to 2024-25 academic year, he said. This decision has been taken as per the recommendations of the ' Telangana State Admissions and Fees Control Committee'.

An average increase of up to 20 percent
Compared to the college fees in 2019, the fees in engineering colleges have increased by an average of 20 percent. In prominent colleges, it has been increased by 10 to 15 percent.. The minimum fee which was Rs.35 thousand has been increased to Rs.45 thousand.
The maximum fee for Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT) in the state has been fixed at Rs.1.60 lakh. The annual fees of MCA courses have been fixed from a minimum of Rs.27 thousand to a maximum of Rs.1 lakh. M.Tech fees have been increased from a minimum of Rs.57 thousand to a maximum of Rs.1.10 lakh.

TAFRC reviews the fees every three years and decides the new fees based on the income and expenditure reports of the colleges. The fees were earlier confirmed in the academic year 2019-20 and are valid till 2021-22. The FRC has completed the exercise on fees for the three years from 2022-23 within a few days. The committee said that there is a possibility of an increase in fees by 10 percent.
While 81 colleges approached the High Court on this, the FRC gave an interim order to implement the fees initially agreed upon. Due to this, FRC conducted an audit on the income and expenses of the colleges again and cut the fees that were initially agreed upon as some mistakes were made in the first auditing. After the appeal of some colleges, they sent the final proposal of fee hike to the government in the first week of this month.

Over 1 lakh in 40 colleges..
If we look at the latest fee hike, the list of Rs.1 lakh and above has increased from 18 colleges to 40. Colleges with annual fees above Rs.75 thousand have increased from 24 to 38. In nine colleges the minimum fee is increased from Rs.35 thousand to Rs. 45 thousand. Fees are going to be between Rs.45 thousand to Rs.75 thousand in another 66 colleges.

Meanwhile, SFI president and secretaries RL Murthy and T. Nagaraju have condemned the increase in engineering college fees. It is said that it will harm the common people who are affected by Corona. They demanded immediate withdrawal of the orders.

Aineni Santosh Kumar, TSTCEA State President has criticised that it is outrageous that even in colleges where there are no minimum facilities and the salaries of the employees are not properly paid, the fees are increased. He said that the FRC did not take any action despite the employees complaining several times about non-payment of wages.
