The Department of Education initiated action as per his instructions. As a part of this, English medium will be introduced in 15,370 government schools where Telugu medium is currently practiced. Steps will be taken to start English-medium sections in parallel with Telugu and reach out to interested students.

English medium in 10,702 schools
There are currently 26,754 schools under the Department of School Education in the state. These include Kasturbagandhi Girl's Schools, Model Schools, Gurukuls and other schools. There are 26,072 Telugu and English medium schools. There are already 10,702 schools with English medium along with Telugu. Of the other 15,370 schools, only Telugu medium is in full swing. The Department of Education is now in the process of launching an English-medium parallel in all of them with the CM's directives. At present 10,16,334 students are studying in English medium while 15,44,208 are studying in Telugu medium.

English Language Enrichment Course from March
The Department of Education is planning to start training from this month to enhance English teaching skills in SGTs teaching in primary schools. Training will be given under the name of English Language Enrichment Course (ELEC). The training will be conducted for four weeks in two phases under the auspices of the State Board of Educational Research and Training, Azim Premji University. It will last for four weeks online.

Training for over 43 thousand teachers
There are 1,03,911 teachers in Telugu and English medium schools in the state. Among them 60,602 teachers are teaching in English medium to the students. Another 43,309 teachers are teaching in Telugu medium schools. They will be trained to teach in English medium.
