Civils 2021 AIR 15 - Yaswanth Kumar Reddy Topped from Telugu States; Check His Success Journey

He started his career with a job as an engineer in IOCL at an early age, with Rs. 90,000 per month, but it did not satisfy him. He started preparing for competitive exams and secured third rank in Group-1 conducted by APPSC. Later, he secured 93rd rank in Civils 2020. Now, in UPSC Civils 2021, he has topped with AIR 15 from Telugu states.

Education Background

He is a native of Madi, a village in Kalugotla, Chagalamarri Zone, Kurnool District. His father Pullareddy is a headmaster in a government school. Amma Lakshmidevi is a housewife. His elder brother Naga Dastgiri Reddy has completed his M.Tech at IIT Kanpur and is doing his PhD in Computer Science (Computer Architecture) in America. He attended Mandala Parishad Primary School in Kottala, Kadapa district, where his father taught lessons till the fifth standard. He studied from six to ten at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Rajampet. He has completed Computer Science Engineering from JNTU Kakinada and Inter at Sri Chaitanya College, Vijayawada.

Job in IOCL
He prepared for the GATE while studying engineering. He achieved rank 201 in GATE. With this he got M.Tech seat in IIT Delhi. Within a month of joining M.Tech, in August 2016, he got a job as an Information Systems Officer in Indian Oil Corporation. He left M.Tech and joined the job. He decided to join the job because it would give time to prepare for Civils.

Preparation Resources for the Exam
I relied on Sakshieducation and some other competitive exam websites for online study material. I relied heavily on the Internet. I studied Spectrum Publication for Indian History and Andhra History entirely on the Internet. Laxmikant's book was useful for politics. I have only referred to the book Ramesh Singh for the Indian Economy
