English is mandatory in all departmental posts conducted by IBPS. This section is also common in the Preliminary and Main exams. Both Prelims and mains contain this section. So it would be better to read in such a way that helps for both the exams. It contains History of Computers, Hardware, Software, Database, Networking, Malwares, Number Systems, Abbreviations and Terminology. This section is an integral part of the Reasoning Ability in IBPS Main. Objective Computer Awareness by Soumya Ranjan Behera is useful.
Reference books for General Awareness
Regarding General Awareness, different countries’ currencies, important dates, international airports, ports, national highways, rivers, dams, nuclear power plants, national parks, stadiums, central government policies, international organizations and sports related question are asked. Fundamentals of RBI functioning, monetary policy, nationalization of banks, Universal banking licenses, guidelines, small finance banks, payment banks, regional banking, banking terminology, non-banking financial companies, and the Indian economy related questions are expected.
For the preparation of this section it is very necessary to read dailies and write down the necessary points as notes. India Year Book and Manorama Year Book are useful for this.
