TG EAPCET 2024 2nd Phase Counselling: Top 27 Engineering Colleges Are the Prime Choice

The web option exercising for the second phase of TG EPCET 2024 engineering counseling has concluded. Check details below.
TG EAPCET 2024 Second Phase Counselling Web Options for Top ENgineering Colleges

A total of 58,000 candidates exercised 6.1 million options in TG EAPCET 2nd phase engineering counselling. Most candidates preferred the top 27 colleges as their first choice. Around 45,000 candidates prioritized courses like Computer Science Engineering, AI & ML, Cyber Security, and Data Science.

  • College Preferences:

    • Lesser options were submitted for general colleges located in district centers and around Hyderabad.
    • Even though these colleges offer computer branches, they didn't receive much preference, leading to high competition for computer courses in the top 50 colleges.
  • Seat Availability:

    • In the second phase, 7,024 seats are to be filled under the convener quota.
    • Combining with 22,753 seats left from the first phase, a total of 29,777 seats need to be filled.
    • Many students who received seats in civil and mechanical branches during the first phase opted for computer courses in the second phase.
  • Counseling Participation:

    • This year, 176 colleges are participating in the counseling, offering a total of 1,11,480 seats.
    • Out of these, 70% are under the convener quota, with 75% of them being in computer courses.

Cut-off and Trends

  • Increased Cut-off Ranks:

    • The cut-off ranks for engineering college admissions have increased this year due to additional seats and new colleges.
    • This was evident in the first phase of counseling where cut-off ranks saw significant changes.
  • Examples of Cut-off Changes:

    • Osmania University: Last year, male students got seats up to rank 1,391, while this year, ranks extended to 1,850. Similarly, for female students, the ranks increased from 1,598 to 1,850.
    • JNTUH Sultanpur: Last year, seats were available up to rank 8,471, which extended to 12,046 this year.

Notable Absences and Expectations

  • Top Rankers Missing:

    • Students with ranks within the top 1,000 were not seen in the first phase of counseling.
    • Only one student in the open category secured a seat up to rank 200. For ranks under 500, only 10 students secured seats, and 74 students with ranks under 1,000 got seats.
    • 1,786 students with ranks under 10,000 secured seats.
  • Future Prospects:

    • As the JoSAA counseling for IITs and national engineering colleges is completed, more students are expected to seek seats in state engineering colleges.
    • This has increased interest in the second phase of seat allotment.
