Applying for a French student visa

The categories for individuals wishing to apply for a French student visa are students applying for:

  • Full time programmes (Under graduate/Master’s level/Twinning degrees)
  • Erasmus -Mundus programmes
  • Student exchange programmes
  • French language learning programmes
  • Short- term internship programmes which are part of an Undergraduate/Master’s level programme
Instructions for Applying For French Student Visa
PRE-VISA Formality:
Ensure that before you come for the visa interview (also known as NOC interview), you have completed the CampusFrance online registration form on www.india.campusfrance.org and have a dossier number. On completion of the form, arrange the below mentioned documents for interview & schedule an appointment for the same. If you have any difficulties in completing the online form you may contact CampusFrance Education Advisors near you (www.india.campusfrance.org)

Note: CampusFrance interview and Consulate appointment are two distinct procedures. CampusFrance is not in charge of the visa and therefore cannot be hold responsible for its issuance or refusal.

Mandatory Documents for Academic Interview
  • Acceptance / admission letter from a French Academic Institution – for students under categories 1, 2 and 4
  • Letters from the institution in India and France stating that the student is part of a exchange programme – for students under category 3
  • Letter from the university/laboratory/organization stating that the student has been accepted for a short-term internship programme – for students under category 5
  • Bona fide letter from the institution in India - for students under categories 3 & 5
  • Academic records - mark sheets + pass certificates / degree or diploma certificates (“10+2” onwards till last degree obtained)
  • Language test certifications if required by institution in France
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Experience Letter (if applicable)
  • Acknowledgement slip confirming the paymet of Institut Francais en Inde of INR 8500
  • Any other documents that you may have uploaded on the CampusFrance online form
The following documents are required to obtain a student visa:
  • Acceptance / admission letter from a French Academic Institution
  • Letters from the institution in India and France stating that the student is part of an exchange programme (if applicable)
  • Letter from the university/laboratory/organization stating that the student has been accepted for a short-term internship programme – for students under category 5
  • Bona fide letter from the institution in India - for students under categories 3 & 5
  • Academic records - mark sheets + pass certificates / degree or diploma certificates (“10+2” onwards till last degree obtained)
  • Proof of resources: a copy of the last year income tax papers + last 3 months bank statement and salary slips or a letter of support issued by a sponsor who must prove that he has sufficient and regular resources (last 3 months bank statement and salary slips)
  • Scholarship letter stating the amount of scholarship/ grant received along with duration
  • Proof of accommodation in France for the period of stay.
  • Copy (first pages & last pages) of valid passport for the entire period of stay in France.
  • Copy of Air ticket or Reservation print out.
  • For short and long duration stay in France the student should take a comprehensive "overseas medical policy and repatriation policy" for 3 months and a copy to be attached
  • Language test certifications if required by institution in France
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Experience Letter (if applicable)
  • Acknowledgement slip confirming the payment of INSTITUT FRANCAIS EN INDE fee of INR 8500
  • Any other documents that you may have uploaded on the CampusFrance online form
  • Completed Long Stay Visa Form or Short Stay Visa Form (less than 90 days)
  • Completed OFFI Form (only with Long Stay Visa form)
  • Completed Campus France Form
  • Fiche d'entretien visa etudiant
When to Apply
The duration of the entire process varies from two weeks to a month depending on the time of year. Applications earlier than three months before the scheduled date of departure will not be accepted.

Fee Payment Procedure
Deposit Rs. 8500/- (Cash/Demand Draft - drawn in favor INSTITUT FRANCAIS EN INDE, at a BNP PARIBAS branch) by filling a deposit slip available in the bank.

Submit the acknowledgement slip to the CampusFrance office on the day of the academic interview.

Note: There is a separate visa fee to be paid at the VFS France at the time submission of the passport & all documents.

FOLLOWING IS THE STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE
STEP 1 – Online Registeration

Log on to www.india.campusfrance.org and on the right hand column click on ‘Create Your Account’.
Fill up the online CampusFrance form. After completion of the online form you will receive your unique CampusFrance Registration Number and the Username/ Password.
Once again go to www.india.campusfrance.org and on the right hand column click on ‘Enter Your Account’. Log in using the given Username/ Password.
After completion of the online form and uploading all the required documents, your file number (Example IN123456) has to be emailed to the nearest CampusFrance office along with the confirmation that your file is complete.
Following this confirmation you may validate your file.

STEP 2 – Appointment with a CampusFrance Education Advisor
Contact the nearest CampusFrance center in your city and request an appointment for the academic interview with the respective Education Advisor via email (only).
The academic interview will be in person and you are required to carry ALL mandatory documents (originals + one set of photocopies).
The set of photocopies will be attested against the originals and returned to you at the end of the interview

STEP 3 – Appointment with the French Consulate/ VFS France After the academic interview with the CampusFrance advisor, you need to schedule an appointment with VFS-France
