Karnataka SSLC Exams Begin; Hijab not allowed

The Karnataka 10th Class/ SSLC exams will start from March 28 (Monday) across the state of Karnataka. For the last 2 years, due to Covid‌ all the students have been passed in the exams. This time, however, exams are routinely carried out as the pandemic has reduced.

10th Class Exams

  • A total of 3,444 examination centers have been set up in the state.
  • Exam will be held from 10.30 am to 1.45 pm.
  • A total of 8,73,846 students from 5,387 schools are expected to enroll. Of these, 4,52,732 were boys, 4,21,110 were girls, and 5,307 were physically and mentally handicapped students.
  • Extensive squads were deployed to prevent irregularities. All test centers are equipped with CCTV cameras. Prohibitions were imposed under Section 144 around test centers.
  • Students can travel on KSRTC and BMTC buses free of cost by showing their hall ticket.

Hijab is not allowed: Minister of Education
Following the court order, students are required to wear the uniform instead of the hijab. Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh said on Sunday that if any student fails to take the exam due to hijab, there would be no test again. Police will take action against those who wear hijab.
