TAFRC reviews the fees every three years and decides the new fees based on the income and expenditure reports of the colleges. The fees were earlier confirmed in the academic year 2019-20 and are valid till 2021-22. The FRC has completed the exercise on fees for the three years from 2022-23 within a few days. The committee said that there is a possibility of an increase in fees by 10 percent.

While 81 colleges approached the High Court on this, the FRC gave an interim order to implement the fees initially agreed upon. Due to this, FRC conducted an audit on the income and expenses of the colleges again and cut the fees that were initially agreed upon as some mistakes were made in the first auditing. After the appeal of some colleges, they sent the final proposal of fee hike to the government in the first week of this month.
