Paradip Port Sets New Record, Becomes India's Top Cargo Handler!

The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) is celebrating a historic achievement! They've emerged as India's leading major port for cargo handling in the 2023-24 financial year.
Here's a breakdown of their impressive performance:
- Record-Breaking Cargo Throughput: PPA achieved a remarkable 145.38 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of cargo throughput, surpassing the previous record held by Deendayal Port. This marks a significant 7.4% growth year-over-year.
- Dominating Coastal Shipping: The port also witnessed its highest ever coastal shipping traffic at 59.19 MMT. This represents a 1.30% increase compared to the previous year. Thermal coal shipping along the coast grew by 4.02%.
- Improved Efficiency: Berth productivity increased by a notable 6.33%, reaching 33,014 MT, the highest among all Indian ports.
- Increased Traffic: PPA handled 21,665 rakes (7.65% growth) and 2,710 ships (13.82% growth) during the year.
