UGC not only receives complaints but also resolves them promptly, ensuring refunds of the excess fees collected by universities. Over the past five academic years, 4,257 complaints were registered, leading to the refund of ₹25.51 crore to students.

97% Success Rate

The UGC Fee Redressal Cell operates under the "e-Samadhan" platform, aiming to relieve students of financial burdens while boosting confidence in the education system. According to UGC officials, 915 complaints were received in 2021-22, 927 in 2022-23, and 2,251 in 2023-24.

Most complaints were filed against private universities in Uttar Pradesh, followed by Delhi and Rajasthan. UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar stated that over 97% of the complaints received were resolved. Out of ₹26.30 crore worth of complaints, ₹25.51 crore has been refunded to students. Notably, ₹8.71 crore was refunded to 1,386 students.
