DoE Warns Against Fake Admission Guarantees: Cautions Parents and Schools

The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued a strong warning to parents and school authorities against engaging with individuals or organizations that falsely claim to guarantee school admissions. In a circular released on March 19, 2025, the DoE highlighted concerns regarding misleading practices by unauthorized entities offering admission-related services.

The circular stated, "It has been observed that certain individuals, organizations, and institutions are misleading parents by claiming to influence or guarantee school admissions." Parents have been urged to stay alert and avoid falling prey to such fraudulent claims. Additionally, school management and heads of both private and government-aided institutions have been strictly instructed to refrain from associating with any admission consulting agencies, websites, or individual agents.

Strict Prohibition on Donations and Capitation Fees

The DoE reiterated that under Section 17 of the Delhi School Education Act and Rules (DSEA&R), 1973, charging any form of donation, capitation fee, consultancy fee, or facilitation fee—whether before or after admission—is strictly prohibited.

The circular emphasized, "The department is fully competent and committed to preventing the commercialization of education in any form." It further warned that strict action will be taken against any individual or entity found involved in such unauthorized practices.

Guidelines for Parents and Schools:

  • Avoid engaging with unauthorized agents or admission consultants.
  • Verify admission procedures only through official school channels.
  • Report any suspicious activity related to fake admission guarantees to the DoE.
