Schools and Colleges Holidays 2025: Two Consecutive Days Off on February 26 & 27 in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh!!

The Telangana Government has officially declared a public holiday on February 26, 2025, in celebration of Maha Shivaratri 2025—one of the most auspicious Hindu festivals. This announcement aligns with the state’s annual holiday calendar.
Why Two Holidays?
- February 26, 2025 – Declared as a public holiday for Maha Shivaratri across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
- February 27, 2025 – Schools and colleges will remain closed in several districts due to MLC elections (Graduate and Teacher Constituencies).
Districts with Additional Holidays for MLC Elections
In light of the MLC elections in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, educational institutions will remain closed in the following districts:
Andhra Pradesh:
- Srikakulam
- Vizianagaram
- Visakhapatnam
- East Godavari
- Guntur
- Krishna

With teachers participating in the elections, a break has been granted in the respective regions to facilitate smooth polling procedures.
In Telangana, elections will be conducted for 1 Graduate MLC and 2 Teacher MLC seats, whereas Andhra Pradesh will see polling for 2 Graduate MLCs and 1 Teacher MLC seat.
