Alert! Heavy Rains... Two Days of School Holidays Declared

Sakshi Education: Heavy to very heavy rains are currently lashing the two Telugu states, prompting district officials to take necessary precautions. Due to a severe low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, various places in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are experiencing significant rainfall.

All Government and Private Schools Closed:

In Uttarandhra, it has been raining continuously. Authorities have issued warnings to fishermen, advising them not to venture into the sea.  In Visakhapatnam, relentless rain continues to pour, leading to the announcement of holidays for all government and private schools in the city. Due to heavy rains, education department officials have also declared holidays for schools in Visakhapatnam, NTR, and Anakapalli districts. Additionally, some colleges in Andhra Pradesh are also being given holidays.

In the next 24 hours, the low-pressure system is expected to intensify into a depression, bringing heavy to very heavy rains to districts in North Andhra and the coastal region. Meanwhile, heavy downpours have been continuous in Vijayawada, with roads flooded and low-lying areas submerged.

Holidays Declared in These Districts:

Due to the heavy rains, education officials in Visakhapatnam have announced holidays for all schools in the district. The DEO has issued orders in this regard. In the NTR district, widespread rains have been reported, flooding roads in Vijayawada, and the district collector, Srujana, has declared holidays for all schools.

Recently, holidays have been announced for educational institutions in Guntur, NTR, Kakinada, Krishna, Alluri, and West Godavari districts. The respective district collectors have declared holidays, resulting in two days off for schools.

Telangana Schools:

In Telangana, heavy rains are also occurring in various districts. Depending on the situation, district collectors may announce holidays. Parents, however, are demanding that holidays be declared for the safety of their children. With back-to-back holidays today and tomorrow, students are enjoying the unexpected break. Recently, there have been more frequent unexpected holidays for educational institutions.

  • 07-09-2024 (Saturday): Vinayaka Chavithi
  • 16-09-2024 (Monday): Eid Milad-un-Nabi
  • 02-10-2024 (Wednesday): Gandhi Jayanti
  • 11-10-2024 (Friday): Durga Ashtami
  • 31-10-2024 (Thursday): Diwali
  • 25-12-2024 (Wednesday): Christmas

Intermediate Admission 2024 : Check Details

School and College Festive Holidays in the 2024-25 Academic Year:

  • Dussehra Holidays: From October 4 to October 13.
  • For Christian Minority Schools: Dussehra holidays from October 11 to October 13.
  • Diwali Holiday: On October 31.
  • Christmas Holiday: On December 25, with Christian Minority Schools observing holidays from December 20 to December 29.
  • Sankranti Holidays: From January 10 to January 19, 2025.
