Sankranti is a significant festival in Andhra Pradesh, and every year the government usually grants a minimum of 10 days of holidays to educational institutions. However, due to the recent rains, floods, and strikes, schools were closed multiple times. This gave rise to speculation that the Sankranti holidays would be shortened this year.

The Andhra Pradesh government has now clarified the matter. They advised not to believe in rumors, and the state's education department officially confirmed that the Sankranti holidays will be from January 10 to 19, 2025, as per the 2024-25 academic calendar. They also dismissed reports that the holidays would be shortened to January 11-15 or January 12-16 due to school closures caused by rains in several districts.
