How much is the competition for each post?
TSPSC has announced that 50 candidates will be selected for the main exams for each post. 25,150 candidates across the state will qualify for Mains for 503 Group-I posts to be filled. With this, only those who have scored more marks will get a chance for mains.. In this selection process, TSPSC will select candidates on the basis of merit in multizone, rule of reservation, gender, EWS, disabled and sports category.
Expected Group-1 prelims cutoff marks in each zone are as follows..
So far selection in Group-1 prelims was done on the basis of general merit. As a result, the cutoff marks would stop at one number. But after the formation of Telangana state, changes in the selection process took place with the new zonal system which was brought with the intention of getting jobs to local candidates. With this, Group-1 cutoff marks will be different in each zone and in each category. While there are two multi zones in the state, the cut off marks will be different in each multi zone. Similarly, the cutoff marks will be different according to reservation and gender. However, experts feel that the cut-off may range from 75-85 marks as the question paper was tough.

Multizones are allotted based on the locality of the candidates. Selection for Group-1 Mains will be done on the basis of two multizones. After that, according to the rule of reservation, candidates will be selected by implementing SC, ST, BC, EWS reservation, disabled and sports reservation. As a result, the cutoff marks will be different in each zone. For example, cut-off marks for a candidate selected in BC-A category in Multizone-1 and cut-ff marks for a candidate selected in BC-A category in Multizone-2 will not be same. Similarly, in the rest of the categories, the cutoff marks will be different in each zone.

Experts say that as the competition is high and the cutoff determination is also zone wise, the candidates need to practice harder. TSPSC has already made it clear that the prelims marks will be considered only till the selection of the mains and will not be considered in the final ranking.
