Internships
Many students do an internship as part of their study programme. If you wish to do an internship in the Netherlands, there are a few factors to consider. Once you have been awarded your diploma, you are no longer eligible to do an internship in the Netherlands. However, you can still get practical work experience as a ‘practitioner’, or practicant, in the Netherlands. In that case, you must already have a job in your home country and your employer abroad must provide a guarantee that you will be able to resume your duties upon returning from the Netherlands. This means that you would be coming to the Netherlands specifically for the internship.

The following are the scholarships in which Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education (Nuffic) plays a coordinating role.
Ford-IFP
Requirements for eligibility
As a fellow, you may enroll on master’s programmes or doctoral programmes and pursue any academic discipline or field of study that is consistent with the interests and goals of the International Fellowships Fund. The Foundation currently works in twelve fields to strengthen democratic values, alleviate poverty and injustice, promote international cooperation, and advance human achievement.
Huygens Scholarship Programme
It is aimed at talented students who want to come to the Netherlands in the final phase of their bachelor’s studies or during their master’s studies.
Application time: From November 1st until January 31st
Studies: Master and bachelor programmes in all areas in all universities in Holland.
Scholarships are awarded for a period of no less than six months and no more than 24 months.
They include the following components:

Requirements for eligibility
- You must demonstrate superior achievement in your undergraduate studies and hold a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent.
- You must have substantial experience in community service or development-related activities.
- You must possess leadership potential evidenced by your employment and academic experience.
- You must propose to pursue a post-baccalaureate degree that will directly enhance your leadership capacity in a practical, policy, academic, or artistic discipline or field.
- You must choose a field corresponding to one or more of the Foundation's areas of endeavour.
- You must present a plan specifying how you will apply your studies to social problems or issues in your own country.
- You must commit yourself to working on these issues following the fellowship period.
- You do NOT need admission to a university to apply for the fellowship.

- a monthly allowance of € 1,380 euros (this includes a standard contribution towards healthcare insurance)
- a generous reimbursement of tuition fees
- visa fees (standard contribution)
- a one-off payment towards international travel costs (standard contribution based on country of origin)
- The average value of scholarships awarded in 2009 was € 28,000.
