SPP Colleges offer 2 year courses and awards Certifcate or Diploma or Post-Graduate Diploma or Advanced Diploma post completion of the studies. Usually, the Diplomas/ Post-Graduation Diplomas offered by these colleges are values across the globe.

Private Universities in Canada

The universities under this category are owned through private donations. These Universities are popular among students who want to pursue Management and Masters in CS and IT courses.   • 3 years of work permit granted by Private Universities after the course completion.

  • Should have a Bachelor's degree of 4 years
  • A minimum aggregate of 60% marks.
  • IELTS score of 6.5 (with no band less than 6)
  • Some top Universities also ask for a GRE score of 290+
  • Up to 5 backlogs are accepted.

  • Compared to SPP colleges Private Universities are slightly expensive with tuition fee amounting upto INR 10 - 12 Lakh per year

Public Universities in Canada

Public Universities are a select group of the best universities looking for students who are strong in academics, with good score in IELTS and GRE. These are probably one of the best Universities globally. Like Private Universities these too offer 2 years Masters degree,
Advantages in brief:
  • Extreme high chances of very good jobs
  • Good for all courses/ streams of studies including bio-technology, pharmacy, mechanical and others
  • Possibility of a scholarship ranging between 40 and 50%.
Admission Requirement:
  • Should have a Bachelor's degree of 4 years.
  • An aggregate percentage of 70% marks.
  • IELTS score of 7 (with no band less than 6.5)
  • Most of the Public Universities ask for a GRE score of 300-310
  • No Backlogs
Cost of Studies:
  • While the tuition fee in Public Universities is slightly higher at INR 14 - 15 Lakh per annum, the high possibility of scholarships upto 50% eventually reduces the burden on students.
How are the salaries for students passing out of Canadian Universities?
Usually, the salaries post Masters from Public or Private Universities, is higher compared to that in the case of SPP Colleges.
  • The starting salary is C$ 5000 - 8000 / month which equals to INR 2.5 - 4 Lakh per month.
  • When part-time is taken into consideration, the average pay per hour is C$ 10-20, per week is C$ 200-400, per month is C$ 800-2000
In short, for students with average or weak academics, average IELTS score and those who are not keen on giving GRE, SPP Colleges are the best. Though they offer Diploma/ PG Diploma courses, they come with their own advantages like good job opportunities, easy admission and visa acceptance, affordable tuition fees. However, students with good academics, ILETS and GRE score, should look for Public Universities, which are ambitious and on any given day provide better opportunities as compared to SPP colleges.
