Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM): A Digital-Based Science Talent Search Examination for School Students!

Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan, VVM is an initiative by Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), in collaboration with National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Ministry of Education, Government of India National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

This national program aims to popularize science among school students of standard VI to XI by identifying “ignited minds” with scientific aptitude.

VVM Objectives:

  • To create interest among students in pure science
  • To provide hands-on training through workshops and events
  • To educate students about India’s contributions to science and technology
  • To mentor students for further education in science
  • To organize exposure visits for winners to various R&D institutions
  • To conduct competitive exams to identify scientifically inclined students
  • To recognize and felicitate successful students at State and National levels

VVM Exam Format

Science and Mathematics from textbooks 50% 50 Questions 1 Mark Each
Indian Contributions to Science* 20% 20 Questions 1 Mark Each
Life Story of Dr. Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar** 20% 20 Questions 1 Mark Each
Logic & Reasoning 10% 10 Questions 1 Mark Each

Important Dates:

  • Mock Tests: From 1st September 2024
  • Examination Date: Wednesday, 23rd October 2024 or Sunday, 27th October 2024
  • Examination Time: 10:00 AM to 06:00 PM (90 minutes, one-time login)
  • Result Declaration: 15th November 2024
  • State Camp: 8th, 15th & 22nd December 2024 (any one day)
  • National Camp: 17th & 18th May 2025

Eligibility:

  • Students from classes VI to XI under CBSE, ICSE, and State Boards

Languages:

  • English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia, Malayalam, Assamese, Sanskrit, Urdu

Levels of Recognition and Rewards

Level Criteria Rewards
Level I School Toppers: Top 3 rankers per class from each school (18 students per school). Minimum 10 students per class must be registered. Merit Certificate (online download)
Level II District Toppers: Top 3 rankers per class from each district (18 students per district). All schools from that district will be part of evaluation. Merit Certificate (online download)
Level III State Level Winners: Top 20 rankers from each class in a state. Top 3 rankers per class will be STATE winners (18 students per state). Winners will be chosen from among students appearing in the state camp. State Camp Participation Certificate, State Camp Memento, Cash prizes (1st: Rs. 5,000/-; 2nd: Rs. 3,000/-; 3rd: Rs. 2,000/- per class), Free visit to the nearest NCSM Unit
Level IV National Level Winners: Top 2 winners of each class at the state level, from each state, will qualify to participate in the National Camp. Top 3 rankers per class will be NATIONAL winners (18 students at national level). Top 3 rankers per class, from a zone, will be ZONAL winners in addition to National winners (18 students per zone). Participation Certificate, National Camp Memento, Cash prizes (1st: Rs. 25,000/-; 2nd: Rs. 15,000/-; 3rd: Rs. 10,000/- per class), Internship and Bhaskara Scholarship of 1 year, Cash prizes for Zonal winners (1st: Rs. 5,000/-; 2nd: Rs. 3,000/-; 3rd: Rs. 2,000/- per class in each zone), Annual Membership of NCSM – Innovation Hub for one year

Schools registering 100 or more students will have the opportunity to be part of a special show/activity if they visit the nearest NCSM Unit with a valid entry ticket.
