Govt. Announces an Extra Holiday for Diwali 2024!

Sakshi Education: Recently, the government granted extended holidays for the Dussehra festival, and due to heavy rains, several districts also saw schools being closed temporarily. Now, once again, in the same month, school students are set to enjoy a consecutive four-day holiday.

On Thursday, October 31, 2024, the state will celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights. However, this year, Diwali has fallen on weekday, leaving people in a tricky situation, especially for those who plan to travel to their hometowns. To address this, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has declared Friday, November 1st as an additional holiday, turning the weekend into a four-day break. To make up for the holiday on November 1st, the government has declared November 9th as a working day. With Saturday and Sunday following, people can now look forward to an extended Diwali celebration.

In the Telugu States:

In the Telugu-speaking states, schools and colleges have also been granted a holiday on October 31st for Diwali. If the Chief Ministers of these states follow Tamil Nadu's lead and declare an additional holiday on November 1st, students and employees may also enjoy consecutive days off.

Special Transportation Arrangements:

In preparation for the Diwali festivities, transportation authorities are making arrangements to run additional buses. The Southern Railway has announced plans to operate around 40 special trains. Official lists of special buses and trains are expected to be released within a few days.
