Give me details about CLAT?
CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test. It is an all India entrance examination conducted by fourteen National Law Schools/ Universities for admissions to their programmes like LLB and LLM. The 14 institutes are:
Pattern for undergraduate programme: The total number of marks is 200. The questions are objective type. Areas of assessment include English including Comprehension (40 marks), General Knowledge/ Current Affairs (50 marks), Elementary Mathematics (20 marks), Legal Aptitude (50 marks) and Logical Reasoning (40 marks).
Pattern for postgraduate programme: The total number of marks is 200. The test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions carrying one mark each and 10 short-answer questions carrying 10 marks each. Areas of assessment pertain to subjects, viz, Law of Contracts, Law of Torts, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and Legal Theory.
