CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test. It is an all India entrance examination conducted by fourteen National Law Schools/ Universities for admissions to their programmes like LLB and LLM. The 14 institutes are:

The eligibility criterion for undergraduate programmes is +2 with at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate. For postgraduate programmes, it is LLB/ BL with 55- 50 per cent marks in aggregate.

Pattern for undergraduate programme: The total number of marks is 200. The questions are objective type. Areas of assessment include English including Comprehension (40 marks), General Knowledge/ Current Affairs (50 marks), Elementary Mathematics (20 marks), Legal Aptitude (50 marks) and Logical Reasoning (40 marks).

Pattern for postgraduate programme: The total number of marks is 200. The test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions carrying one mark each and 10 short-answer questions carrying 10 marks each. Areas of assessment pertain to subjects, viz.... Law of Contracts, Law of Torts, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and Legal Theory.

Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, IIT Kharagpur offers Bachelor of Law course in Intellectual Property. It is a six-semester, three-year full-time residential programme that is approved by the Bar Council of India.
