- The US has approved a 100 million dollar support contract with Taiwan aimed at boosting the island’s missile defence systems.
- The US State Department announced the engineering and maintenance agreement as China plays host to the 2022 Winter Olympics.
- The US Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) in a statement, said that upgrades to the Patriot Air Defence System would help improve the security of the recipient and assist in maintaining political stability, military balance, and progress in the region.
- Taiwan's Foreign Ministry also said, in the face of China's continued military expansion and provocative actions, their country will maintain its national security with a solid defence, and continue to deepen the close security partnership between Taiwan and the United States.
