India Begins ‘Poorvi Prahaar’ Tri-Services Drill After China Disengagement

India has launched a significant tri-services military exercise, ‘Poorvi Prahaar,’ beginning November 8, aimed at strengthening military readiness across the eastern front. This 10-day exercise follows the recent disengagement between Indian and Chinese troops at key friction points in eastern Ladakh, including Depsang and Demchok, and underscores India’s commitment to enhanced defense capabilities.
MARCOS (Marine Commandos) deployed, showcasing naval special operations capability.
The exercise comes after recent disengagement in eastern Ladakh (Depsang and Demchok) and amidst ongoing discussions between India and China.
Key area of sensitivity due to the clash in December 2022 and restricted access for the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
India is balancing diplomatic efforts to engage China with enhancing its military capabilities along the LAC, ensuring sovereignty and security.

Indian Military Heritage Festival 2024: A Tribute to India’s Military Legacy

The 2nd edition of the Indian Military Heritage Festival (IMHF) is set to begin on November 8, 2024, in New Delhi. The two-day event, backed by the Ministry of Defence and several esteemed institutions, aims to bring together global and Indian think tanks, academicians, corporations, and military experts to discuss topics related to India’s national security, foreign policy, and military heritage.
This year’s festival will be inaugurated by Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, along with the three Service Chiefs. It follows the success of the inaugural IMHF held in October 2023, which highlighted India’s rich military culture through various exhibits and performances.

ISA Launches World Solar Report Series

The 3rd edition of the World Solar Report series was launched at the 7th Assembly of the International Solar Alliance, spotlighting key areas in the global transition to sustainable energy. This year’s release includes four reports: the World Solar Market Report, World Investment Report, World Technology Report, and Green Hydrogen Readiness Assessment for African Countries.
The report series covers global solar growth, investment trends, technological advancements, and green hydrogen potential in Africa.
Comprises four reports, World Solar Market Report, World Investment Report, World Technology Report, and Green Hydrogen Readiness Assessment for African Countries.
Global solar capacity skyrocketed from 1.22 GW in 2000 to 1,418.97 GW in 2023, showing a 40% annual growth rate.
In 2023, solar power additions accounted for 345.83 GW—75% of all new renewable capacity.
Solar generation has reached 1,628.27 TWh, a significant increase from 1.03 TWh in 2000.
Organized by ISA alongside the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (India), Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the International Solar Energy Society (ISES).
Aimed at driving real-world impact through dialogue on new-age solar technologies, storage solutions, and solar’s role in equitable development.

Anil Pradhan Honored with Rohini Nayyar Prize

Anil Pradhan has been awarded the prestigious Rohini Nayyar Prize for 2024, recognizing his impactful contributions to rural development in India. Known for his dedication to empowering rural communities, Pradhan’s work has brought positive change and opportunities to underserved areas.
The Rohini Nayyar Prize honors young leaders under 40 making notable contributions to rural development in India.
It was established in memory of Rohini Nayyar, an economist and former IAS officer in Uttar Pradesh who served with the Planning Commission of India.
The award includes a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakh, a citation, and a trophy.
