Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina Wants India To Implement The Teesta Project.

- Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that she would like India to implement the Teesta project as it is related to the neighbouring country. She said this replying to a question at a press conference arranged in Dhaka about the outcomes of her recent visit to China.
- China has come up with some offers and conducted a feasibility study about the Teesta project and India has also given offers and will carry out a feasibility study. Bangladesh’s PM said that she would prioritize India doing it. She said, India holds the water of the Teesta River, So, they should undertake the project and and assured that Bangladesh would provide whatever is necessary if India proceeded with it.
- However, she said that her government will go for the proposal which will be suitable for Bangladesh after the completion of feasibility study by India, reports UNB.
- Moreover, India and Bangladesh have 54 common rivers. They have been cooperating on flood management, early warning, and drinking water projects. During a recent visit of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to India, both countries agreed to discuss the conservation and management of the Teesta River in Bangladesh.
