7.8 magnitude earthquake hit southeast Turkey, followed by another strong temblor

- A 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit southeast Turkey early today and it was followed by another strong temblor. It caused several structures in the region to collapse and was felt in multiple provinces. US Geological Survey said quake was centered about 33 kilometers from Gaziantep, a major city and provincial capital.
- A strong 6.7 temblor rumbled about 10 minutes later. Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management agency, AFAD, said the quake measured 7.4 and was centered in the town of Pazarcik, in Kahramanmaras province. According to HaberTurk television, several structures collapsed in the nearby provinces of Malatya, Diyarbakir, and Malatya. There were no reports of casualties so far.
