AP Budget 2025-26: Andhra Pradesh Government Presents Full-Fledged Budget

The Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister, Payyavula Keshav, presented the AP Budget 2025-26 in the State Assembly on February 28, 2025. This marks the first full-fledged budget presented by the coalition government after coming to power.

The AP Budget 2025 has been structured around major allocations, debt estimates, and funding for welfare schemes. However, significant budget cuts have been made for key initiatives like Thalli Ki Vandanam and Deepam schemes.

Major Budget Cuts in Welfare Schemes

🔹 Thalli Ki Vandanam: Allocation reduced to ₹8,276 crore, while over ₹12,000 crore is required.
🔹 Deepam Scheme: Beneficiaries reduced from 1.55 crore to 90 lakh, allocation cut from ₹4,000 crore to ₹2,601 crore.

Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav’s Statement

"Rebuilding Andhra Pradesh is a major challenge. The current financial situation is similar to 1995. Since coming to power, we have launched 74 welfare schemes. However, the state's borrowing capacity has reached zero, making AP the only state with no ability to take loans."
