If the candidates qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) through CSIR NET and UGC NET exam, the chances for PhD are more. They can get financial support with JRF. Those who have completed post graduation and who are in the final year of the qualifying exam are eligible to apply for NET. To pursue PhD in Engineering, Science and Technology, GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score will help.

They are being paid a starting salary of $ 1.10 million. In India, reputed institutes like IISc and IITs get an annual salary of up to Rs 30 lakh. Compared to universities and start-ups, wages are higher in Research and Development (R&D), in corporate companies.
