Complete > < Finished

Many feel that there is no difference between the two words. I personally feel there is some difference. I can say, "The show is completed.'' NOT "finished''.  He finished his course of study. Can you complete it today?

Completed - reached the end. The assembly of the machine is completed. You should complete the given blanks!

Finished - It means 'done'. He finished his lunch. NOT completed.
The director of the linguistic conference threw this challenge: "Some say there is no difference between the words complete and finished. Please explain the difference between complete and finished in a way that is easy to understand."
This was a man's smart answer: "When you marry the right woman, you are COMPLETE. But, when you marry the wrong woman, you are FINISHED.  And when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are COMPLETELY FINISHED!"
His answer was received with a standing ovation lasting over five minutes!
