As per NTA notice, below were the clarifications.

1. NEET UG 2024 Cut-off Scores:

  • Cutoff scores depend on candidate performance each year.
  • A rise in cutoffs reflects tougher exams and higher candidate achievement.
  • The table below shows cut-off trends for the General Category (UR) in recent years.

2. Compensation for Lost Time:

  • Some candidates challenged exam time loss during NEET (UG) 2024 at specific centers.
  • A committee reviewed grievances and CCTV footage to determine time loss.
  • Compensatory marks (based on answering efficiency and lost time) were awarded as per a Supreme Court ruling.
  • A total of 1563 candidates received marks ranging from -20 to 720.
  • Two candidates even scored 718 and 719 due to these marks.
  • Examination integrity remained uncompromised at these centers based on CCTV analysis.

3. Increase in Top Scorers:

  • More candidates appeared in 2024 (23,33,297) compared to 2023 (20,38,596).
  • This naturally leads to a rise in high scorers due to a larger pool of test-takers.
  • NTA received challenges regarding one Physics question's answer key due to differences between textbook editions.
  • Subject experts allowed two options as correct for this question.
  • Among the 67 candidates with a perfect score (720), 44 benefited from the Physics key revision and 6 from time loss compensation.
  • As highlighted before, toppers come from across the country.

4. Transparency in Results and Examination Process:

  • NEET (UG) results are typically declared ASAP after processing is complete.
  • NTA declared results for nearly 23 lakh candidates within 30 days.
  • Similar timelines were followed for JEE (Main) 2024 results.
  • Established procedures ensure transparency throughout the examination process.
  • Information is shared through various means, including city intimation slips, admit cards, advisories, scanned OMR sheets, answer key challenges, final answer keys, scorecards, and regular briefings.

5. Unfair Means Cases:

  • Actions against unfair means (UFM) follow existing rules, including exam cancellation and future exam debarment.
  • NTA has filed cases against impersonators, and some have been filed by state police.
  • NTA is assisting investigating agencies with NEET (UG) 2024 UFM cases.
  • While investigations are ongoing, NTA firmly denies any paper leak.
  • A detailed press release on May 6, 2024, addressed rumors of a paper leak.
  • NTA maintains the exam's integrity was not compromised.
