40 thousand IT jobs in TCS: Check recruitment process here

India's biggest IT giant, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is planning to hire as many as 40,000 freshers in Indian campus amid corona crisis.
Let us know about the eligibility, opportunity and strategy to get into TCS.

Crazy about TCS
TCS has campuses in 149 locations across 46 countries. TCS is at the forefront of domestic IT careers. The main reason for this is the perception that job security is available with TCS. As well as a good work environment, career growth opportunities attract talent. Hence, candidates are focusing on job placement in TCS while completing the courses.

Two methods
TCS selects candidates through Campus Placements, Off Campus Drives. The selection process for these two methods does not differ much in terms of syllabus. Competition is low on the campus placements system and high on the off-campus route. But, it must be said that the chances for campus drives are slim this year due to the corona. Candidates are required to register on the TCS official website for off-campus opportunities.

Eligibility:
  • Candidates must have passed all exams from the tenth grade in the first attempt itself. Passing with at least 60% marks in the respective examinations is mandatory.
  • Only one backlog of final qualifications is allowed at the time of application. The backlog should be completed by the time of selection.
  • The respective courses should be taken on a regular basis. There should be no gap of more than two years in relation to education. There must be reasonable grounds for the gap.
  • Minimum age is 18 years.
  • All streams of BE / B. Tech, ME / M. Tech candidates have opportunities to join TCS. MCA and M. Sc students can also compete for off-campus credentials.

Selection process
The TCS selection process will include an online test as well as an interview. The online test covers English, Quantitative Aptitude, Programming, Logic, Coding, etc.

English
Questions are asked on basic grammar topics. Out of total 15 questions, 10 are MCQs and 5 are FUB (fill up the box) questions. This section contains negative marking (0.33 marks). Practice Tenses, Articles, Sentence Correction, Para Jumbles, Nouns, Models, Spellings, Synonyms, Antonyms, Subject-Verb Agreement, Close Tests will be there. Candidates must be able to answer 10–12 questions without fail. The test time is ten minutes.

Quantitative aptitude
A total of 15 questions consist of 10 MCQs and 5 FUB questions. There will be negative marking. Be prepared to answer at least 12–14 questions. Arrangements and Series, P&C, Number System, LCF, HCF, Percentages, Ratios, Proportion and Average, Reasoning, Work and Time, Geometry, Divisibility, Profit and Loss, Ages, Series and Progressions, Equations etc will be there. The test time is 30 minutes.

Coding
7 MCQs, 3 FUB questions will be asked. There will be negative marking. It mainly concentrates on C Input and Output Theory and data structure topics. The test time is 30 minutes.

Programming Logic
Ten questions will be asked on C, C ++, Java, Python, Perl languages. The test time is 20 minutes.

Interview Tips
The interview will include technical, managerial and HR rounds.

Technical Round
Select two domains or technologies related to specialization and updates on developments.

Must have grip basic programming concepts. Knowledge of the ‘C’ language is an added asset.

Detailed questions on project workshops will be asked. And chance of asking about technical aspects.

Managerial Round
It assesses how a candidate responds to stress. For that the interviewers make attempts to deliberately confuse and skeptical the candidates. Emotional intelligence will be tested.

HR Round
In this round, the terms and conditions of the company are stated and the candidate's behavior and way of thinking are assessed.

Why you want to join this company, and how you are better than the other candidates etc questions are expected.

Questions will be asked on introduction, courses done, confidence, personality, strengths, weaknesses, soft skills.
