The focus is on technology recruitment, including positions for data scientists, data architects, network operators, and other specialized roles. "We are recruiting for various technology-related positions and require around 8,000 to 10,000 employees overall this year. In addition to the specialized divisions, we are also hiring for general positions," stated SBI officials.
Current Staffing at SBI:
As of March, this year, SBI had a total workforce of 2,32,296 employees, with 1,10,116 being officers. SBI Chairman Challa Srinivasulu Setty also announced plans to open 600 new branches across India in this financial year. By March 2024, SBI is expected to have 22,542 branches, along with 65,000 ATMs and 85,000 business correspondent centers across the country. SBI is focusing on strengthening its workforce to meet general banking needs and enhance its technological capabilities.
Hiring 1,500 Employees:
"We are bolstering our workforce both in technology and general banking. Recently, we announced the recruitment of approximately 1,500 technology-qualified candidates at entry and higher levels," said SBI Chairman C.S. Setty.
