The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Ayog) and United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) are collaborating to work to achieve the United Nations’ sustainable development goals concerning children in India. As per an official statement, the two organisations have inked a Statement of Intent that focuses on children.
NITI Aayog and UNICEF India signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with a focus on children, according to an official statement.
The statement further read that UNICEF India and NITI Aayog are developing detailed measures to gain an understanding of the multidimensional attainments and deprivations among children across health and nutrition, education, water and sanitation, and household living standards, in order to achieve the SDGs' child development priorities.
NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar remarked that this child-focused SDG project builds on India's efforts to track progress through the SDG India Index and Dashboard, which remains a unique data-driven initiative for driving policy change.
