Education being provided to students in institutions should be free from politics, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari went on to state on Sunday that education should not be based upon the political ideology of the founders of these educational institutions, regardless of which party they are affiliated with.
Further remarking that great literature can do the work of nation-building, the union minister added that writers, historians, and journalists play an important role in bringing a positive change in people’s mindsets.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, “Literature is very important in politics, but politics should not be played on the platform of literature. Great literature can do the work of nation-building and nation development.”
“But the problem nowadays is that there are good and bad things in every field. Many educational institutes belong to politicians, but the education imparted through such centres should not be based on the ideology followed by their founders,” added the union minister.
The union minister went on to say, “No matter which political party the founder of an educational institute belongs to, the education being imparted in his institutes should be free from politics.”
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari cited the example of a Hindi movie, ‘Taare Zameen Par’ while adding that the film teaches us about how an ideal teacher should be.
He further remarked that to end the vices in society, people’s mindset needs to be changed and that writers, historians, and journalists have a crucial role to play in it.
He stated, “If we want to be the number one country in the world, we have to study literature, poetry, music and history. The dream will be true only after that.”
“There is a need for socio-economic reforms in the country. A man is superior by his quality and not by his caste,” added the union minister further.
