Good News: State Government Considers Expanding Foreign Education Fund!

The state government is reviewing proposals to significantly increase the number of beneficiaries under the "Foreign Education Fund Scheme."

This scheme, which offers the highest financial support among welfare programs, has seen a surge in applications. Currently, only a limited number of students are eligible, leading to widespread disappointment.

Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Foreign Education Fund

The most sought-after fund is the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Foreign Education Fund, administered by the BC Welfare Department. This fund provides up to ₹20 lakh in non-repayable financial aid for postgraduate studies in designated countries. Despite receiving thousands of applications annually, only a small fraction of applicants is selected.

Proposals for Expansion

To address this growing demand, welfare departments have submitted proposals to the Chief Minister's office. The BC Welfare Department has requested an increase in beneficiaries from 300 to 1,000, but a more feasible target of 800 is being considered. The SC Development Department aims to expand its beneficiaries from 210 to 500, while the ST Welfare Department seeks to increase its limit from 100 to 300-500.

With the Chief Minister expressing positive interest in these proposals, government orders are expected to be issued soon, potentially bringing relief to thousands of aspiring students.
