In order to support such students, the Andhra Pradesh government has introduced the 'Jagananna Videsi Vidya Deevena' scheme.

Through this scholarship scheme, one can complete higher education in internationally prestigious universities for free. This scholarship scheme will be implemented from 2022-2023. 100 percent tuition fee payment

  • Through the Jagananna Videsi Vidya Deevena Scheme, government financial assistance will be provided to those who have finalized their admission in MBBS, PG, PhD level courses in the top 200 universities in the QS World University Rankings.
  • According to QS University Rankings, if you get admission in top-100 universities, you will get the entire tuition fee (100 percent).
  • According to the QS University Rankings, if you get admission in the universities in the list of 101-200, fifty percent of the tuition fee amount or Rs. 50 lakhs (whichever is less) will be given as assistance.
  • The QS World University ranks as per the list available at the time of application will be considered

For the poor
The main objective of the Jagananna Videsi Vidya Deevena Scheme is to provide necessary financial assistance to the SC, ST, Minority, BC and economically backward upper caste poor students of the state to complete their higher education courses in the world's top universities.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Should belong to SC, ST, Minority, BC, Economically Backward Classes.
  • Annual family income should not exceed Rs. 8 lakh.
  • Age should be less than 35 years as on date of application.
  • Must be residents of Andhra Pradesh state.

Educational Qualifications

  • PG Courses Eligibility: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Management/Pure Sciences/Agricultural Sciences/Medicine and Nursing/Social Sciences/Humanities with 60% marks.
  • Eligibility for PhD: 60% marks in PG in Engineering/Management/Pure Sciences/Agricultural Sciences/Medicine and Nursing/Social Sciences/Humanities.
  • Eligibility for MBBS Course: Intermediate pass with 60% marks and rank in NEET.
  • TOEFL/IELTS/GRE/GMAT Score.
  • Valid passport, visa.
  • Admission should be finalized in QS top-200 universities.
  • Candidates selected through the scheme should join the concerned University/Institute within six months from the date of selection.

Eligible Courses:

  • Post Graduation Courses in Engineering, Management, Pure Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Medicine and Nursing, Social Sciences, Humanities.
  • PhD in above disciplines.
  • MBBS course at bachelor degree level.

Acceptance of applications twice a year
Universities abroad in every academic year admit students from September to December in the name of fall session; Similarly, admissions are made from January to May in the name of spring session. Keeping this in mind, the Andhra Pradesh government has also decided to receive applications twice every year to provide financial assistance to the candidates who are eligible for the Jagananna Videsi Vidya Deevena Scheme. Students can get financial aid in whichever session they have finalized their admissions. In the academic year 2022-23, for fall session admissions, students can apply till September 30 this year. Similarly, in the case of spring session admissions, students can apply from January 1 until February last.

Online application process is as follows
Candidates who are eligible for Jagananna Videsi Vidya Deevena Scheme must apply online. The prescribed documents are to be uploaded through https://jnanabhumi.ap.gov.in portal. After the completion of this application process, firstly the relevant details will be visible online to the respective district officials of the welfare department at the district level. After checking these by the concerned officials, if all the documents and other details are confirmed as per the scheme guidelines, these will be approved and transferred to the concerned welfare department/ state level officer of the corporation. After that they are handed over by the concerned officer to the state level committee specially appointed for this scheme.

Appear before the State Level Committee
After sending the applications to the State Level Committee of the Jagananna Videsi Vidya Deevena Scheme by the concerned officials of the respective Welfare Departments/Corporation, the concerned students have to appear before the committee on the date specified by the committee. The Chief Secretary/Secretary of the concerned department is the chairman and the Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Council of Higher Education, the Commissioners of the Technical Education Department are the members and the Commission/Director of the concerned Welfare Department is the member-convener in this committee. This committee will scrutinize the applications of the eligible students in the online application process and make the final selection.

Payment in four installments

  • The scholarship amount will be paid in four installments to the selected candidates for the Jagananna Videsi Vidya Deevena Scheme. 
  • The first installment is paid after providing the landing permit to set foot in the respective country. 
  • The second installment will be given after showing the results of the first semester or term of the course the candidates are studying. 
  • In case of PhD and MBBS students, each installment of funds is released on the basis of the previous annual or semester results.  
  • As part of this scheme, airfare and visa fee reimbursement to travel to the country of admission is also available.

The state government is taking steps to ensure that there is no delay in providing assistance to the students who have applied. This will ensure timely sanction of scholarship to deserving students. So that they will get a chance to realize their dream of foreign education without any worries.

Fall Session Applications

Students should apply online through Jnanabhoomi portal before September 30. The prescribed documents have to be uploaded along with the online application. They are..

  • Caste Certificate issued by Village/Ward Secretariat.
  • Income certificate sanctioned by Gram/Ward Secretariat directly attested by District Collector.
  • 10th Class/Date of Birth Certificate to confirm age limit.
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Locality Certificate issued by your Service/Revenue Department.
  • Certificates of prescribed qualifications, mark sheets.
  • NEET Score Card (For Admission to MBBS Course)
  • TOEFL/ITLTS/GRE/GMAT Score Sheet.
  • Admission offer letter from the concerned foreign university.
  • Copies of income tax return of family members (where applicable).
  • Self-certification stating that neither he nor anyone else in the family has benefited from such a scheme.
  • Along with these, passport size photograph and scanned signature should also be uploaded in the online application.
