Good News for Students: Schools to Get a Holiday on February 14th | Here's Why

February 14th marks the observance of Shab-e-Barat, a significant night for the Muslim community. In recognition of this holy occasion, schools will be closed. Though the government has declared it an optional holiday, many minority schools have announced a day off. As per religious leaders, Shab-e-Barat will be observed on this date, based on the sighting of the moon. While most schools will observe the holiday on February 14th, some may choose to close the following day.
The High Court of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh has announced that it will observe a holiday on February 14, 2025, for Shab-i-Barat, instead of the originally scheduled date of March 19, 2025. Similarly, schools and colleges are also expected to declare a holiday on the same day, though an official confirmation is still awaited.
