Details of MBBS seats in Government Medical Colleges

The university announced that there are 1,765 seats in 10 government medical colleges, while there are 23 private medical colleges and 3,350 MBBS seats in minority colleges. Clarity on seats in the state came in the wake of the release of NEET results on November 1. The university has said that it will issue a notification for admissions as soon as the details of the candidates from Telangana state who have qualified in NEET are received from the National Testing Agency (NTA). Sources at the College Health University say that the announcement of the ‘NEET’ state rankings will be released during the week.

Many in the state are concerned about the ranks that have come in the thousands nationally. However, experts say the rank will be lower at the state level. Students who are ranked below 90,000 nationally are likely to get seats within the Convener quota in the state. For those who have achieved ranks above one lakh at the national level, it seems that they will also get MBBS seat in private colleges. Health varsity sources said that the notification for the first phase of counseling will be issued soon after the announcement of the state level ranks. However, they did not say when the classes would start.

15 per cent seats for All India quota
All seats in government colleges and 50 per cent seats in private colleges will be filled within the quota. About 15 per cent of the seats in government medical colleges fall under the all-India quota. After two phases of counseling, the remaining seats will be returned to native state. On the other hand, it is known that the Center is implementing 10 per cent reservation for the economically weaker sections (EWS) among the upper castes. Seats were allocated to that extent. University sources are expressing doubts as to whether more students will move to other areas in the wake of the corona that seats in the All India quota will be vacated.
