Structures of Sentences Using Pronouns

Pronouns are generally used instead of nouns.
Some pronouns are used in the beginning of sentences.

I go to park daily. We meet once in a week.
You should study well. It is a nice gift.
He is my cousin. They are going to Mumbai.
She got the first rank. Everyone accepted her decision.
Each one is contributing. Someone took my dictionary.
All attended the meeting. No one helped him.
Anyone can do this. Both Ramu and Raju came.
Either Radhaor Rita will come. Neither Shyam nor Sreedhar came.

Some pronouns are used in the end of the sentences in the position of the object.
  • He gave the book to me.
  • She scolded us.
  • They have invited you.
  • I appreciated him.
  • We convinced her.
  • He broke it.
  • She followed them.
Some pronouns are used to denote that a particular object belongs to someone.

This is my book. This book is mine.
That is our house. That house is ours.
These are your things. These things are yours.
Those are his shirts. Those shirts are his.
This is her saree. This saree is hers.
That is their vehicle. That vehicle is theirs.

Some pronouns are used in the object position to denote the subject itself.
  • I hurt myself.
  • We punished ourselves.
  • You must change yourself.
  • He shot himself.
  • She burnt herself.
  • It fell itself.
  • They killed themselves.
Some pronouns are used in the object position to stress.
  • I did all the work myself.
  • We completed the project ourselves.
  • You should find this yourself.
  • He repaired the car himself.
  • She painted this picture herself.
  • They cleaned the whole house themselves.
Some pronouns are used to relate the past.
This is the matter what I wanted to discuss with you.
This is the place where it happened.
This is when he entered.
This is how she tackled it.
This is my friend whom I wanted to introduce to you.
This is the person who helped me.
