Structures of Sentences Using Adjectives

Adjectives are used to describe a noun or a pronoun.
Example: Raju is tall.
If the adjective used is followed by a noun, an article should be used.
Example: Raju is a tall boy.

Kinds of Adjectives
  1. Adjectives of quality: Show the kind or quality of person or thing.
    Eg:
    big large
    intelligent foolish
    clever beautiful
  2. Adjectives of quantity: Show how much of a thing is meant.
    Eg: all
    much
    any
    sufficient
    enough
    little
    half
    some
    no
    whole
  3. Adjectives of number: Show how many persons or things are meant, or in what order a person or things stands.
    Eg: ten
    many
    no
    first
    few
    All
    most
    several

    Definite numeral adjectives: which denote an exact number.
    Eg: first
    three

    Indefinite numeral adjectives: which do not denote an exact number
    Eg: several
    all
    many
    certain
    some
    no
    few
    any

    Distributive numeral adjectives: Which refer to each one of a number.
    Eg: every
    neither
    either
    each
  4. Demonstrative adjectives: point out which person or thing is meant.
    Eg: this
    that
    these
    those
  5. Interrogative adjectives: they are used to ask questions.
    Eg: which
    whose
    what
  6. Emphasizing adjectives: they are used to emphasize.
    Eg: own
    very
  7. Exclamatory adjectives: they are used to show feelings.
    Ex: What an idea!

1. Ramu is/was/will be tall.
2. Ramu is/was/will be a tall boy.
3. The tall boy won the race.
4. I eat spicy food.
5. I am watching an interesting programme.
6. I have bought a costly gift.
7. I have been living in a small house.
8. I have been sick since last week.
9. I purchased a new car last week.
10. I was buying a new dress.
11. I had left before the old man died.
12. I had been working in a small firm.
13. I had been sick for ten days.
14. I will give you a nice gift.
15. I will be tensed by this time tomorrow.
16. I can be confident if you are there.
17. I am/was/will/may/should be able to be relaxed.
18. I could be wrong.
19. I may be late but I am ready.
20. I might be harsh.
21. I shall be ready by 5 o’ clock.
