Words are classified into different kinds or classes called parts of speech based on their usage. The parts of speech are eight in number.
They are –
Noun:A noun is a word used as the name of a person, place, animal or thing. It has to be started with a capital letter.

Pronoun: A pronoun is a word used instead of a noun.

Adjective: An adjective is a word which describes a noun or a pronoun.

Verb: A verb is a word which tells about the action of a noun or a pronoun.

Pronoun: A pronoun is a word used instead of a noun.
Eg:
- He invited her.
- We went to market last week.
- It fell from the sky.
- She invited only me.
- I don’t mean to hurt him in anyway.
Adjective: An adjective is a word which describes a noun or a pronoun.
Eg:
- She is a beautiful girl.
- He is the most sincere person that I have ever met.
- Yoga is beneficial to us.
- No one has come yet.
- We saw a very exciting film last night.
- She is humbler than I expected.
- This is the oldest building in Hyderabad.
Verb: A verb is a word which tells about the action of a noun or a pronoun.
Eg:
- I ate chocolates.
- Sita commutes to office by bus.
- They are anticipating that there would be a strike.
- He has ruined his life.
- They have been tolerating this since long.
- She recommended me for that job.
Adverb: An adverb is a word which tells more about a verb, adjective or another adverb.
Eg:
- Sachin played well.
- They spoke very well at the seminar.
- She comes here mostly on Sundays.
Eg:
- The cat is on the table.
- She has been waiting for him since morning.
- There is a lot of dust behind the curtain.
- There is a hospital in front of my house.
- Besides the media, there were a lot of people at the venue.

- Ram and Raju are brothers.
- He isnot only a good dancer, but also a poet.
- I will not go there unless I am forced.
- She behaves as though she knows everything.
Eg:
- Oh! He has got hurt.
- Ouch! I have hurt my finger.
