Noun: A noun is a word used as the name of a person, animal, place or thing.
Nouns are divided into four kinds of nouns:
Proper Noun: The name of a particular person or place is called a proper noun.
Eg: Ram is my friend.
Hyderabad is the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
Common Noun: The name given in common to every person or thing of the same class or kind is called a common noun.
Eg: Hyderabad is a big city.
That boy got the first rank.
Collective Noun: The name given to a collection of persons, animals or things is called collective noun.
Eg: The army fought bravely.
The team played well.
Material noun: The raw materials used to make other products are called material nouns.
Eg: Gold is an expensive metal.
Abstract Noun: The name used for a quality, action or state is called an abstract noun.
Eg: Health is wealth.
Honesty is the best policy.
