The Union Public Service Commission will hold a screening test for selection to Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination, 2023 through Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination, 2023 which will be held on 19th February, 2023 in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Mines in the Gazette of India

Geologist (Geological Survey of India): 216 Posts

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo- Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Geochemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or an educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956) i.e. recognized University.

Geophysicist (Geological Survey of India): 21 Posts

Scientist ‘B’ (Geophysics): 02 Posts

Qualifications: M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed universities under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

Chemist (Geological Survey of India): 19 Posts

Scientist ‘B’ (Chemical): 01 Post

Qualifications: M.Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other educational Institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed Universities under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 i.e. recognized University.

Scientist ‘B’ (Hydrogeology): 26 Posts

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Geology or applied Geology or Marine Geology or Hydrogeology from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational Institutes established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956

UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Notification 2023 - Age Limit (As on 01/01/2023): 21 - 30 years

UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Notification 2023 - Fee: Rs.200/-. Female/ SC/ ST/ PH candidates are exempted from payment of fee.

  • Date of Preliminary Examination: February 19, 2023
