- Martyrs’ Day is also called Shaheed Diwas
- Every year March 23 is observed as Martyrs' Day when Indians commemorate the sacrifices given by freedom fighters and other people to gain independence from British rule.
- Martyrs Day is also observed on January 30, the day when father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1947.
- Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivram Rajguru were sentenced to death for killing assistant police superintendent John Saunders.
- To honour their sacrifice, who lost their lives during India's struggle for independence from British rule, the country observes Martyrs Day on March 23 every year.
