It was not the beauty of Daman and Diu that enthralled me; it was the beauty of work experience and knowledge which I gained from my internship experience.
I was accompanied by another person from the mechanical engineering department on my intern to Blue Star Ltd. I got a chance to learn about air conditioning and one of my projects which compared the power consumption of digital and fixed scroll compressor has been done for first time. The company is also considering filing a patent for it. I learned that learning about things in lecture halls and even in laboratories is very different from the actual execution. Initially I had reservations about internship; I didn’t realize the tremendous value and growth potential it provides. However, by the end of my intern I was convinced that it is an integral part of IIT education.
The intern was more or less centered on bringing in new ideas in the world of power. What we were supposed to do was never taught in the lectures. A whole new dimension of practical
approach was needed to be put at work.
