Important Tools for EEE Students

Electrical and Electronics Engineering is an evergreen field. It covers generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of power, as well as its storage and control.

Following are the important tools for EEE students:
MATLAB:
More than a million engineers and scientists in industry and academia use MAT LAB. It is a powerful language of technical computing.

Labview: It is system design software that provides engineers, scientists with the tools needed to create, deploy measurement and control systems through unprecedented-ted hard ware integration.

ECAD: It is created for electrical control systems. This tool includes all the functionality of Auto- CAD plus a complete set of electrical CAD features.

PSCAD: It is software developed for analyzing and designing Analog, Digital Electronic, Electrical circuits and Power Electronic systems also.

Mi-power: Mi-power is a highly interactive user-friendly based power system analysis package.

DSPACE: It is a Prototype hardware and software. Industries like Automotive, Aerospace, Defence, commercial and many others rely on DSPACE systems to develop and test electronic control units.

EMTP-RV (Electro Magnetic Tran-Silent Program): It is for simulation and analysis of power system transients.

ARM: It is a family of instruction set architectures for computer processors based on a reduced instruction set computing (RISC) architecture developed by British company ARM Holdings.

A RISC-based computer design approach means ARM processors require significantly fewer transistors than typical processors in average computers. This approach reduces costs, heat and power use. These are desirable traits for light, portable, battery-powered devices-including smart phones, laptops, tablet and notepad computers), and other embedded systems. A simpler design facilitates more efficient multi-core CPUs and higher core counts at lower cost, providing higher processing power and improved energy efficiency for servers and supercomputers.

Mastering in any one of the above tools would really help the graduates to get wonderful placement. Attending classes in every semester regularly and spending the time to learn, become a master in any one of the above tools during summer winter break would really make a graduate different from other graduates.

Graduates of EEE have following options after completion of 4 years program-
  • Job in core companies such as ABB Ltd, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, ECIL, NHPC, DRDO, DRDL, SAIL, GAIL, ONGC, APGENCO, AP. TRANSCO, AP. DI SCOM, Vizag Steel Plant, BARC, Vijaya Electricals Ltd, Jindal Steel & Power Limited, Solar Power, Wind Power and BIO- mass industry.
    Students of EEE, preparing for GATE helps them in two ways. One is possibility of getting absorbed in PSU’s and the second is the chance of doing Masters in reputed institutes such as IISC, IITS, NITS and university colleges in India. AP. Govt Power sector and other private sectors, have their own method of recruitment. Excellent pay scale will be offered in PSU's which is 2 to 3 times of pay normally they get in software industry.
  • Having job in software companies such as DE Shaw Ltd, Infosys, Qualcomm, TCS, CTS, Wipro and many others.

    Higher Education Opportunities for EEE students.
  • Doing masters in India at premier institutes. Graduates get Rs. 8000/- pm as stipend also during the study.
  • Going for Masters in USA, Germany, UK and other European countries: Graduates need to take GRE & TOEFL / IELTS, get reasonably good scores to get admission with scholarship.
    Hard work with sincerity and commitment during these four years would galvanize students into next 40 years of life. So be proud of being an Electrical and Electronics engineer, feel the difference differently. Learn with pleasure not with pressure.
