Spin giant, Australian star Shane Keith Warne (52) died suddenly on March 4. He died of a heart attack at his villa in Koh Samui, Thailand. Born in Upper Fern Tree Gully, near Melbourne, Australia, Warne made his international debut in 1992 with a Test match against Team India.
He took 708 wickets in 145 Tests and 293 wickets in 194 ODIs for Australia, becoming one of the 'All-Time Great' bowlers. He became the first bowler to cross the 700 wicket mark in Test cricket. He proudly bid farewell to international cricket in January 2007 after beating England 5–0 in the Ashes on home soil. He has since been active as a cricket commentator.
Warne was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2013. He was also a member of the Australian team that won the 1999 ODI World Cup. Shane Warne is also associated with the IPL. Warne captained the Rajasthan Royals in the early 2008 season. Shane Warne was instrumental in Rajasthan winning the title that season as captain and player.
