Paris Olympics 2024

India has secured its second medal in the Paris Olympics 2024, with Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh winning a bronze in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team Shooting event. On July 30th, the Indian shooting duo defeated the South Korean pair (Wan Holi, Jin E Wahim) 16-10 to clinch the medal.

Manu Bhaker's Achievements in the Olympics

  • 10m Air Pistol: Manu Bhaker won a bronze medal, giving India its first medal in the event.
  • 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team: Along with Sarabjot Singh, she secured another bronze medal.

Breaking a 124-Year-Old Record

Manu Bhaker is the first Indian woman to win two medals in a single Olympics edition. Additionally, she is the first "pure Indian" athlete to achieve this feat. The previous record was held by British-Indian athlete Norman Pritchard, who won two silver medals in the 200m sprint and 200m hurdles at the 1900 Olympics. After 124 years, Manu Bhaker from Haryana has broken this record, marking a significant achievement for India.
